Bouman to Rauner: "Do Your Job"

WATCH the video. Shriver Center President John Bouman was in Springfield this week to tell Governor Rauner to end the hostage taking. "We need a budget now, we don't need it at some hazy future date...We need to say to everyone in that building, but especially the chief executive, we need a budget with adequate revenue and we need you to do your job."

RBC Endorses Fair Tax Amendment

The amendment would permit the state to have a Fair Tax, where people with higher incomes pay a higher rate and people with lower incomes pay a lower rate. The RBC supports the Fair Tax initiative because it squares fully with the RBC's principles: it opens up ways for Illinois to raise adequate revenue in a fair way, so that the state can fully fund vital services and make smart investments.  

New Report: Budget Impasse Continues to Devastate Illinois Families and Communities​

Today, the Fiscal Policy Center at Voices for Illinois Children released an updated report detailing the negative impact the budget impasse has had on 43 services. Illinois is now in its ninth month without a budget, leaving no funding for critical programs serving people in every corner of the state.The report includes specific accounts from regional providers around the state, including the loss of Meals on Wheels for seniors in Rockford, autism services for children in Chicago, and substance abuse treatment for families in Jacksonville.sadfamily_fullsize.jpg
